Job summary

US Foods is seeking a Senior Refrigeration Systems Engineer to lead the design, optimization, and lifecycle management of complex refrigeration and facility systems across multiple locations. You will provide advanced technical leadership in infrastructure, automation, and controls, collaborating with cross-functional teams to drive reliability and efficiency.

This remote role requires travel to sites within the region when needed.

Qualifications

• 5 years of industrial refrigeration or cold chain engineering experience.
• Demonstrated expertise in ammonia and Freon refrigeration systems, HVAC/mechanical systems, troubleshooting, and preventive maintenance programs.
• Experience managing multi-site operations and technical teams.
• Knowledge of OSHA, EPA, PSM, IIAR, energy efficiency and automation.
• MS/engineering degree or equivalent; CMMS experience.
• Willingness to travel >40% as needed.

Responsibilities

• Lead lifecycle design, optimization, and reliability of refrigeration and facility systems.
• Provide advanced technical support for infrastructure, controls, and mechanical/electrical systems.
• Partner with cross-functional teams to identify improvements and strategic initiatives.
• Monitor performance, analyze trends, and implement solutions to improve uptime and efficiency.
• Lead root cause analysis and implement corrective actions.
• Develop standards, documentation, and operating procedures across facilities.
• Support capital projects, equipment installations, and facility upgrades from concept through startup.
• Evaluate modernization strategies and emerging tech to meet goals.
• Ensure safety, environmental, regulatory, and company standards compliance.
• Collaborate on long-range infrastructure planning, budgeting, and capital planning.
• Mentor engineering, maintenance, and operations teams; coordinate external vendors.
