Job summary

US Foods, a leading foodservice distributor, seeks a Senior Refrigeration Systems Engineer. The role focuses on design, optimization, reliability, and lifecycle management of facility and operational refrigeration systems across multiple sites, including contractor coordination and budget support.

This remote position requires travel within the region and occasional on-call coverage. You will drive standardization, risk mitigation, and adoption of new technologies to enhance performance,

Qualifications

• 5+ years of industrial refrigeration or cold chain engineering experience.
• Expertise in ammonia and Freon refrigeration, HVAC/mechanical systems, troubleshooting, and preventive maintenance.
• Experience managing multi-site operations and technical teams.
• Knowledge of OSHA, EPA, PSM, IIAR, energy efficiency and automation.
• Experience with CMMS systems, maintenance planning, and capital project execution.
• Travel (>40%), with potential reduction as the function matures.

Responsibilities

• Lead the design, implementation, optimization, and lifecycle management of facility and operational systems.
• Provide advanced technical expertise for infrastructure, automation, controls, mechanical, electrical, and integrated systems.
• Partner with cross-functional teams to identify and implement system improvements and strategic initiatives.
• Monitor performance, analyze trends, and develop solutions to improve uptime and efficiency.
• Lead root cause analyses and implement sustainable corrective actions.
• Develop and maintain engineering standards, procedures, and system specifications.
• Support capital projects, equipment installations, and facility upgrades from concept to startup.
• Evaluate modernization and technology opportunities to meet operational goals.
• Ensure safety, environmental, regulatory compliance across facilities.
• Collaborate with leadership on long-range infrastructure and budgeting.
