Job summary

The National Forest Foundation is seeking a Reforestation Senior Specialist to lead the national reforestation program, coordinating with the US Forest Service, partners, and field teams. This full-time role manages program staff, complex funding, and a wide portfolio from nursery production to post-planting monitoring, with a focus on outcomes across the United States.

The position is flexible across the lower 48 states, remote with travel, offers a salary range of $105,000 to $131,250 and

Qualifications

• Master’s degree in Forestry, Ecology, Natural Resource Management, or related field.
• At least five years of professional experience in forestry, ecological restoration, or project planning.
• Knowledge of forest ecosystems and native tree species.
• Familiarity with U.S. Forest Service procedures and reforestation practices.
• Proficiency with GIS, GPS, and data management systems.
• Strong organizational and communication skills; ability to work independently and in a team.
• Experience supervising remote-based project staff and willingness to travel.
• Authorized to work in the United States.

Responsibilities

• Develop best practices for reforestation activities and guide field teams.
• Identify new program opportunities and collaborate with the Forest Service and partners.
• Lead development of national and regional reforestation resources.
• Oversee budgets and supervise staff; manage contracts and projects.
• Coordinate with partners to align with mission and goals.
• Provide program financial management and reporting.
• Support fundraising and corporate partnerships.
• Monitor program impact and outcomes with staff.
• Mentor and supervise direct reports.
• Maintain relationships with federal/state agencies and NGOs.
