Job summary

National Forest Foundation seeks a Reforestation Senior Specialist to lead our national reforestation program, spanning nursery production to post-planting monitoring. You will manage budgets, supervise staff, and coordinate with the U.S.

Forest Service, NGOs, and private partners to advance holistic restoration across the United States. The role reports to the Land and Water Restoration Director and emphasizes program development, cross-team collaboration, and strategic initiatives to expand

Qualifications

• Master’s preferred in forestry, ecology, natural resource management or related field.
• Minimum 5 years of professional experience in forestry, ecological restoration, reforestation, or project planning.
• Knowledge of forest ecosystems, native tree species, and basic silvicultural practices.
• Familiarity with US Forest Service procedures and reforestation practices.
• Proficiency with GIS, GPS, and data management systems.
• Strong organizational and communication skills; able to work independently and in a team.
• Experience supervising remote-based staff; willingness to travel.
• Authorized to work in the United States.

Responsibilities

• Lead a national program providing subject matter expertise to NFF staff and field teams.
• Develop and execute reforestation programs across the U.S. and manage budgets.
• Supervise staff and oversee contracts and project life cycles.
• Coordinate with the Forest Service, NGOs, and private partners on strategic initiatives.
• Monitor and report on program impact and outcomes.
