Job summary

The American Heart Association seeks a Sr. Program Implementation Lead for the Fontan Health Network Initiative.

This home-based role directs strategic planning, operational execution, and cross‑functional collaboration to implement a national program focused on improving outcomes for Fontan patients. With 5+ years in healthcare, you will manage stakeholders, funder relations, and complex research initiatives while guiding learning infrastructure, data governance, and translation into practice

Qualifications

• Bachelor’s degree or equivalent work experience required; Advanced Degree preferred.
• 5 years of relevant experience.
• Experience in healthcare, health systems, and/or health policy; clinical experience preferred.
• Experience working in or with large, matrixed healthcare organization(s).
• Experience in leading collaborative research initiatives or programs.
• Experience with program management across industry, healthcare, philanthropy, government and non-government organizations.
• Experience working with national level executive volunteers and national boards.
• Strong interpersonal and communication skills to interact and engage across different disciplines and institutions.
• Ability to travel up to 25% local and overnight stay.

Responsibilities

• Develops and implements strategic and operational plans, in collaboration with Fontan Health Network Initiative staff, including managing to the $20 million budget and funder relationships.
• Leads implementation planning and operational coordination for activities related to clinical practice discovery and evaluation.
• Works with scientific leadership and participating sites to support the eventual adoption of validated evidence into clinical practice.
• Leads implementation of the learning infrastructure for the multi-site Network, including data standards, governance, interoperability, registry integration, and longitudinal learning.
• Works with Initiative leadership and funded computational teams to ensure infrastructure supports discovery, translation, and continuous improvement.
• Builds relationships and engages key strategic stakeholders from public, healthcare, patient advocacy, and private organizations; represents the initiative externally.
• Supports integration of the Initiative team and internal resources including: Executive Leadership, Office of Science Operations, Communications, Mission Advancement, Office of Funded Programs.
