Job summary

GitLab Inc. is seeking a Senior Product Manager to own the Secret Detection offering and the Vulnerability Research function, shaping detection content and threat intelligence across security products.

You will lead the full lifecycle from detection through revocation, partnering with engineering, security research, threat intelligence, and Field teams to deliver measurable impact and a secure software supply chain.

Qualifications

• Domain depth in application security, vulnerability management, or security research.
• Technical credibility to reason about detection logic, data pipelines, CI integration, and the tradeoffs between coverage and noise.
• Commercial reasoning with revenue mechanics, buyer motion, and competitive displacement.
• Evidence of using AI as a force multiplier in your own work: research, analysis, data pulls, prototyping, drafting.
• Judgment under ambiguity; structured options and a recommendation instead of escalation.
• Bias for clarity; ability to produce concise, aligned one-page decisions.
• Bonus: hands-on background as a developer, security engineer, red teamer, or researcher; credential ecosystems experience.

Responsibilities

• Own the business outcomes for Secret Detection and Vulnerability Research, including adoption, expansion, competitive win rate, and revenue contribution.
• Set the strategy for the full secret lifecycle: prevention, detection, validation, revocation, and reporting across GitLab.com, Dedicated, and Self-Managed.
• Treat detection content as a product; define sourcing, validation, versioning, and measurement with clear quality signals for customers.
• H​old the line on detection quality; own metrics proving precision improves over time.
• Work at the technology level: read rule syntax, question entropy heuristics, and challenge engineering with informed alternatives.
• Use AI to shorten the distance between questions and answers; pull data, prototype flows, and synthesize input to reach conclusions.
• Build the case for AI's role in triage, rule generation, remediation guidance, and reducing human review burden.
• Partner with Engineering, Security Research, Threat Intelligence, Field, and GitLab's Security team; communicate with precision to a distributed audience.
