Job summary

Baker Tilly Advisory Group, LP is seeking a payroll professional to support consulting engagements and improve client payroll processes. You will handle multistate regulatory reviews, payroll tax activities, and setup configurations, collaborating with teams and clients to deliver accurate results.

Qualifications

• Three years of payroll experience in consulting, payroll provider, or in-house function.
• Bachelor’s degree preferred; experience may substitute.
• Strong knowledge of payroll processes, compliance and multistate regulations.
• Experience with payroll tax forms and filings.
• CPP certification is strongly preferred or in progress.
• Excellent analytical, problem-solving and attention to detail.
• Proficiency in Microsoft Excel and MS Office; strong communication skills.
• Ability to manage multiple priorities in a team-focused environment.

Responsibilities

• Support payroll consulting engagements across clients, industries and geographies.
• Assess and improve client payroll processes, controls and procedures.
• Perform multistate payroll compliance reviews (federal, state, local).
• Support payroll tax activities, including forms 941, 941-X, and W-2C.
• Assist with payroll setup and configuration (earnings, deductions, tax treatments).
• Analyze payroll data to identify discrepancies, risks and opportunities.
• Support reviews related to employee classification, wage treatment and overtime.
• Research and apply payroll regulations including reciprocity and multistate issues.
• Collaborate with internal teams and clients to deliver timely, high-quality work.
