Job summary

Amgen is seeking a Senior Associate Paralegal in Patent Operations. The role provides paralegal and docketing support to the Patent Law group, maintaining accurate U.S. and foreign patent records and coordinating patent prosecution activities.

The role collaborates with patent attorneys, agents, outside counsel, and foreign filing providers to keep matters on track. Candidates may be based in Thousand Oaks, CA; Cambridge, MA; or South San Francisco, CA, with remote consideration.

Qualifications

• Master's degree or equivalent combination of education and docketing experience.
• Bachelor's degree with IP docketing experience or higher.
• Proven experience with U.S. and foreign patent prosecution.
• Strong ability to coordinate with attorneys, agents and foreign counsel.

Responsibilities

• Open new patent matters in IPMS and verify filing data.
• Review correspondence and docket events in IPMS.
• Monitor dockets, follow up on upcoming deadlines, and escalate issues.
• Document actions, contacts, and required follow-up in matter notes.
• Coordinate foreign filing decisions and national phase instructions.
• Prepare and send foreign filing instructions to filing providers.
• Generate IPMS reports and maintain portfolio data.
• Conduct data-quality reviews and coordinate corrections.
• Coordinate patent annuities and maintenance fees.
• Safeguard confidential information and support process improvements.
