Job summary

Cepheid, a Danaher operating company, seeks a Senior Patent Agent to partner with R&D and manufacturing to protect Cepheid’s intellectual property. You will draft and prosecute patent applications in molecular diagnostics, perform freedom-to-operate studies, and guide internal stakeholders on IP strategy—while coordinating with outside counsel.

This role is fully remote within the United States and reports to the Deputy Chief IP Counsel.

Qualifications

• Registered to practice before the U.S. Patent and Trademark Office as a Patent Agent.
• At least 4 years of patent prosecution experience in the life sciences field.
• Bachelor's degree in a life sciences discipline; advanced degree preferred.

Responsibilities

• Draft and prosecute patent applications in molecular biology and diagnostics.
• Conduct freedom-to-operate analyses and advise internal stakeholders.
• Direct outside counsel on global patent filing and prosecution matters.
• Prepare training materials to improve invention disclosure and IP protection.
• Collaborate with R&D, manufacturing and legal teams to protect Cepheid IP.
