Job summary

Cepheid, a Danaher operating company, is seeking a Senior Patent Agent to partner with R&D, manufacturing, and legal teams to protect Cepheid’s intellectual property. You will manage drafting and prosecution of patent applications, and direct outside counsel on global filings from a remote US base.

Ideal candidates have 4+ years in life sciences patent prosecution and a USPTO patent agent registration, with a strong molecular biology background.

Qualifications

• Registered to practice before the USPTO as a Patent Agent.
• 4+ years of patent prosecution experience in the life sciences field.
• Bachelor’s in molecular biology, biochemistry, biology, genetics, or related field.
• MS/PhD preferred in molecular biology or related field.

Responsibilities

• Draft and prosecute patent applications in the molecular diagnostics space.
• Conduct freedom-to-operate analyses and advise internal stakeholders.
• Direct outside counsel on global patent filing and prosecution.
• Prepare training materials to bolster invention disclosures and IP protection.
• Participate in IP projects impacting Cepheid as a whole.
