Job summary

Airbnb is seeking a senior ML Engineer to lead Trust ML initiatives and engineer scalable AI systems. You will design and deliver complex ML models, mentor teams, and collaborate across product and platform groups to mitigate fraud and improve trust.

The role is remote in the US and may require occasional onsite work. Strong expertise in GenAI, ML infra, and large-scale data is essential for success.

Qualifications

• 12+ years of industry experience in applied machine learning.
• 2-3+ years with LLMs and GenAI; experience with Agentic AI.
• Bachelor’s/Master’s/PhD in CS/ML or related field.
• Strong programming and data engineering skills (Scala/Python/Java/C++).
• Deep understanding of ML best practices and models across domains (NLP, CV, anomaly detection).
• Experience with trust and risk domain is a plus.

Responsibilities

• Define and execute the long-term ML technical vision and strategy for Trust.
• Serve as a technical leader and mentor to ML and software engineers.
• Drive and deliver large-scale ML initiatives spanning multiple teams.
• Work with large-scale structured and unstructured data to build ML models.
• Collaborate with cross-functional partners to identify business impact and requirements.
• Work with trust defense and platform teams on fraud.
• Hands-on develop, productionize, and operate ML models and pipelines at scale.
• Examples: anomaly detection models, risk evaluation, multimodality and Agentic AI.
