Job summary

Airbnb, Inc. is seeking a Senior Machine Learning Engineer for the Trust Frontier AI team. You will own end-to-end ML projects, from problem framing and prototyping to training, productionizing models, and proving impact on trust metrics.

You will tackle abuse detection and autonomous AI agents, with a focus on measurable outcomes across large-scale data and platform safety. Remote-eligible with potential office days in US states Airbnb operates.

Qualifications

• 5–10 years of industry experience in applied Machine Learning.
• 1–2+ years of hands-on experience with LLMs and GenAI.
• Strong programming skills in Python.
• Experience with ML frameworks such as TensorFlow, PyTorch.
• Experience building end-to-end ML pipelines (batch and real-time).
• Experience designing evaluation methodologies for ML/LLM systems.
• Exposure to architectural patterns of large-scale software with APIs and data pipelines.
• Experience with test-driven development and incremental delivery.
• Exposure to Trust & Risk domain (fraud detection, identity) is a plus.
• Bachelor’s, Master’s, or PhD in CS/ML or related field.

Responsibilities

• Frame and prototype ML and agentic solutions for complex problems in partnership with product and defense teams.
• Design, build, and productionize end-to-end ML pipelines for batch and real-time use cases.
• Build and improve abuse behavior detection that generalizes across defenses.
• Design AI agents that automate trust decisions and define guardrails for reliability.
• Develop benchmarks and evaluation harnesses to measure model and agentic decision quality.
• Collaborate with front line teams to validate solutions and quantify impact on metrics.
• Contribute to high-quality ML engineering culture through code reviews and design discussions.
