Job summary

Optum is seeking a Senior Medical Coder to perform concurrent review of FFS coding rules, ensuring CPT and E/M codes are accurately coded for maximum reimbursement and minimal denials. This role supports coding functions within charge review, claim edits, and denials to uphold revenue cycle integrity.

Schedule: Monday to Friday, 8am - 5pm. Location: Remote Nationwide. You will have the flexibility to telecommute from anywhere within the U.S. while handling diverse coding challenges.

Qualifications

• 3+ years of Pro-Fee coding experience across multiple specialties.
• CPC, CPC-H, CPC-P, RHIT, RHIA, CCA, CCS, CCS-P or equivalent certification.
• ICD-10-CM, CPT, Modifiers & HCPCS coding knowledge.
• Medical terminology, disease processes, anatomy and physiology knowledge.

Responsibilities

• Perform concurrent review of FFS coding rules to ensure accurate CPT and E/M coding for reimbursement and minimal denials.
• Support coding functions within charge review, claim edits, and denials to maintain revenue cycle integrity.
• Identify documentation gaps and generate queries; follow up with providers as needed to obtain complete information.
• Educate and mentor others to improve coding quality and outcomes.
