Job summary

Optum is seeking a Senior Medical Coder to perform concurrent review of FFS coding rules, ensuring CPT and E/M codes are accurately billed for maximum reimbursement and minimal denials. This role supports coding functions within charge review, claim edits, and denials to sustain revenue cycle integrity. Schedule: Monday–Friday, 8am–5pm.

Location: Remote Nationwide. You will apply ICD-10-CM, CPT, HCPCS knowledge, interrogate clinical documentation, and mentor others to improve coding quality

Qualifications

• High School Diploma or GED.
• AAPC or AHIMA coding certification required (CPC, RHIT, RHIA, CCS, etc.).
• 3+ years of Pro-Fee coding experience across multiple specialties.
• Advanced knowledge of ICD-10-CM, CPT, Modifiers & HCPCS.

Responsibilities

• Apply understanding of medical coding to assign appropriate codes.
• Review clinical documentation to identify applicable codes.
• Generate queries when documentation is unclear and follow up timely.
• Resolve coding edits or denials related to code assignment.
• Educate and mentor others to improve coding quality.

Education

High School Diploma/GED

Coding certification from AAPC or AHIMA (CPC, RHIT, RHIA, CCS, CCS-P, etc.)
