Job summary

RTX, a leading aerospace and defense company, is seeking a Senior Manager for Virtual Computing Operations to lead enterprise-wide VDI and virtualization platforms. You will manage a team delivering reliable, secure, scalable environments that enable business growth.

You will partner with security, cloud, and engineering teams to align strategies with enterprise architecture, develop roadmaps, and drive continuous improvement while ensuring cost-efficiency and high availability.

Qualifications

• Typically requires a University Degree or equivalent experience with 10+ years, or an Advanced Degree with 7+ years.
• Experience leading or supporting virtual desktop infrastructure (VDI) in large-enterprise environments.
• Experience with virtualization technologies across compute, network, storage, application, and automation layers.
• Experience developing technology strategies, roadmaps, and sustainable solutions in complex, 24/7 environments.
• Experience leading and delivering reliable operational platforms in global production environments.
• Experience partnering with customers and senior leadership to ensure milestones are met.
• Experience with UNIX/Linux/Solaris and/or Windows integration in large environments.
• Experience with enterprise storage technologies such as NetApp and PowerMax.

Responsibilities

• Lead enterprise-wide operational support and strategy for virtual computing environments, including VDI and virtualization infrastructure.
• Develop and execute long-term technology roadmaps, standards, and best practices for virtualization and related platforms.
• Manage and develop a team of IT professionals, promoting cross-training and knowledge sharing.
• Partner with End-Point Technology Engineering, Cybersecurity, Cloud Engineering, and other teams to align virtualization with enterprise architecture.
• Drive continuous improvement, platform resilience, and customer satisfaction across global operations.
• Ensure high availability, security, scalability, and cost-effectiveness across virtual platforms.
• Evaluate proposed virtual solutions for operability and alignment with requirements.
• Develop and manage KPIs to measure platform effectiveness and service delivery.
• Influence enterprise architecture and communicate recommendations to stakeholders.
• Support business growth and new program onboarding with scalable processes.
• Identify opportunities to adopt emerging technologies to improve efficiency.
• Provide technical and operational leadership to address complex challenges.
