Job summary

Virta Health seeks a senior accounting leader to modernize and scale our accounting organization. You will oversee General Ledger, financial reporting, and technical accounting, driving audits, closes, and internal controls in a high-growth, remote-first environment.

The role requires a CPA with 8+ years of progressive accounting experience, deep US GAAP expertise, and a proven track record leading teams through monthly, quarterly, and annual closes.

Qualifications

• CPA required, with 8+ years of progressive accounting experience; public accounting experience strongly preferred.
• Strong technical accounting foundation with deep experience across General Ledger accounting, financial reporting, and US GAAP.
• Demonstrated experience leading complex monthly, quarterly, and annual close and reporting processes within a high-growth, public company, or public-company-ready environment.
• Proven people leader with experience developing high-performing accounting teams, setting clear expectations, and creating accountability and ownership across the organization.
• Strong business judgment and demonstrated ability to independently identify, evaluate, and drive complex accounting and operational matters to resolution.
• Demonstrated success improving accounting operations through technology, automation, process redesign, and scalable internal controls.
• Excellent communication and cross-functional partnership skills, with the ability to influence stakeholders and translate complex accounting matters into clear business implications.
• Comfortable operating with significant ownership and autonomy in a fast-paced environment with evolving priorities and increasing organizational complexity.

Responsibilities

• Provide leadership across General Ledger accounting, financial reporting, and technical accounting.
• Lead the annual financial statement audit and quarterly review processes, coordinating with external auditors.
• Own the preparation and review of monthly financial reporting, quarterly and annual financial statements, including Workiva-based reporting.
• Lead technical accounting research and implementation for complex and emerging transactions under US GAAP.
• Oversee stock-based compensation and equity administration and accounting.
• Review financial statements and GL accounts to ensure accurate monthly, quarterly, and annual fluctuations.
• Own the monthly, quarterly, and annual close processes across assigned accounting areas.
• Review journal entries and reconciliations to ensure compliance with US GAAP and company policies.
• Manage, mentor, and develop a high-performing team of accountants and foster accountability.
• Develop and apply accounting policies, internal controls, and reporting processes for Virta’s growth.
• Evaluate existing processes and design scalable solutions to improve efficiency and employee experience.
• Champion adoption of AI, automation and emerging technologies across accounting operations.
• Partner with FP&A, Legal, People Ops, Procurement, and Engineering to align accounting with strategic initiatives.
• Take ownership of cross-functional accounting initiatives and drive issues to resolution.
• Operate as a senior leader shaping execution and talent development across Accounting.
