Job summary

Cognizant is seeking a Senior Mainframe Developer to design, enhance, and support healthcare claims applications. You will collaborate with analysts, QA, PMs, and offshore teams to ensure reliable processing and scalable mainframe solutions.

You will lead design and code reviews, troubleshoot complex production issues, and support migration and deployment activities in a remote, United States-based role.

Qualifications

• 8+ years of hands-on mainframe experience developing COBOL/JCL/DB2/VSAM/CICS/MQ.
• Experience with healthcare claims adjudication workflows.
• Knowledge of code migration and release management processes.
• Strong analytical, troubleshooting, and collaboration skills in Agile environments.

Responsibilities

• Design, develop, test, debug, and maintain healthcare claims applications using COBOL, JCL, DB2, VSAM, CICS, and MQ.
• Translate requirements into scalable mainframe solutions for claims adjudication workflows.
• Troubleshoot production issues and optimize performance with sustainable fixes.
• Support system testing, deployment, validation, and post-implementation activities.
• Provide technical leadership to offshore teams and coordinate delivery with stakeholders.
