Job summary

SME Careers, a fast-growing AI data services company and subsidiary of SuperAnnotate, is seeking a Senior Java Engineer for fully remote, hourly contractor work. You will review AI-generated Java code, assess architectural solutions, and generate high-quality reference implementations and reasoning steps.

In this role, you will ensure accuracy, clarity, and adherence to prompts, while identifying logical, performance, or design issues and providing detailed feedback to improve AI models.

Qualifications

• Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science, Software Engineering, or related field.
• 5+ years of professional software engineering experience with Java on production systems.
• Deep understanding of core Java, concurrency primitives, and the Java Collections Framework.
• Extensive experience building backend services using Spring or Spring Boot, REST APIs, and microservice architectures.
• Strong grasp of software design, system design, and performance optimization in distributed Java systems.
• Minimum C1 English proficiency (written and spoken).
• Comfort with Git, CI/CD pipelines, automated testing, and containerization technologies.
• Experience conducting code reviews and providing constructive feedback.
• Previous experience with AI data training, annotation, or evaluating AI-generated content is a plus.

Responsibilities

• Develop AI training content and reference implementations for Java-based solutions.
• Review AI-generated Java code, architectural solutions, and explanations for accuracy and quality.
• Identify errors in logic, performance, or design; optimize and validate model solutions.
