Job summary

Cognizant is seeking a Java Backend Lead Developer to design and deliver scalable, cloud-based backend applications and analytics solutions using Java technologies. You will work with a multinational engineering team and business stakeholders to translate requirements into reliable, production-ready solutions.

You will provide technical leadership across the SDLC, promote cloud-native practices, and ensure successful deployments.

Qualifications

• 9+ years of software development with Java, Spring, Spring Boot, and Spring Data JPA.
• Experience designing scalable backend applications in high-volume environments.
• Hands-on Kafka or similar messaging technology.
• Experience deploying applications on major cloud platforms.
• CI/CD pipelines, Kubernetes, and modern deployment practices.
• Ability to lead technical discussions in an Agile Scrum environment.

Responsibilities

• Lead the design and development of scalable backend applications and analytics using Java, Spring, and cloud technologies.
• Collaborate with technical program managers, technology leads, and stakeholders to evaluate requirements and guide technical conversations.
• Develop high-quality features with unit testing and code coverage.
• Provide technical guidance and prepare functional/technical specifications and solution designs.
• Oversee testing, deployment, and production readiness with monitoring and observability.
