Job summary

Cognizant is seeking a Java Backend Lead to design and deliver scalable, cloud-based applications. You will provide technical leadership across the full SDLC, emphasizing cloud-native practices and reliable production delivery.

The role offers remote work for qualified US applicants with flexible arrangements and strong emphasis on collaboration with managers, leads, and stakeholders to translate requirements into robust solutions.

Qualifications

• 9+ years of software development experience with Java, Spring, Spring Boot, and Spring Data JPA.
• Experience designing scalable backend apps in high-volume environments.
• Hands-on with Apache Kafka or similar messaging technology.
• Experience deploying apps on major cloud platforms.
• CI/CD pipelines, Kubernetes, and modern deployment practices.
• Proven ability to lead technical discussions and guide teams in Agile Scrum.

Responsibilities

• Lead the design and development of scalable backend applications and analytics solutions using Java, Spring, Spring Boot, and cloud technologies.
• Partner with PMs, tech leads, and stakeholders to evaluate requirements and guide technical discussions.
• Develop features with unit testing and code coverage in line with standards.
• Provide technical guidance and support documentation for solutions and architectures.
• Oversee testing, deployment, and production readiness, including monitoring and observability.
