Job summary

Booz Allen Hamilton is seeking a Lead Java Developer to design and deliver modernization efforts for medical device review systems. You will lead architecture decisions, mentor engineers, set coding and testing standards, and own the production support path for critical issues.

In this role you will evaluate new tools, ensure scalable solutions, and coordinate with cross-functional teams to reduce timelines and improve IT resilience within a federal health context.

Qualifications

• 8+ years of software development experience.
• 6+ years with Java, Spring Boot, Hibernate/JPA, and RESTful services.
• 4+ years leading engineers with mentoring and delivery accountability.
• 3+ years with modern JS frameworks and responsive UI development.
• Experience migrating large legacy Java apps to modular services.
• Database design experience with SQL (Oracle or PostgreSQL).
• Knowledge of J2EE/JSP/Servlets and migration strategies.
• Containerization and cloud deployment with Docker/Kubernetes and AWS/Azure.
• DevOps tools experience: Git, CI/CD pipelines, Jenkins.
• Ability to obtain Public Trust or Suitability/Fitness.

Responsibilities

• Lead design and delivery for modernization workstreams.
• Set standards for code quality, testing, CI/CD, production readiness.
• Mentor developers and own production issue escalation.
• Evaluate emerging tools and ensure scalable architectures.
