Horizontal Talent is seeking a Sr. IT Developer to join a remote, dynamic team supporting software engineering and operations initiatives.

The role blends hands-on application development with infrastructure and deployment work to build and ensure reliability of critical systems. The position emphasizes collaboration across development and operations, with a roughly 50/50 split between coding and operations tasks.

Qualifications

• Hands-on experience with Java Spring Boot and Python.
• Strong understanding of concurrency programming.
• Experience developing or supporting microservices-based applications.
• Knowledge of test-driven development practices.
• Solid grasp of CI/CD concepts and workflows.
• Linux fundamentals and shell scripting experience.
• Familiarity with Terraform, Ansible, Docker, and Kubernetes.
• Ability to troubleshoot issues and work with moderate direction.
• Strong documentation, communication, and collaboration skills.
• Understanding of SDLC concepts and software delivery best practices.

Responsibilities

• Design, develop, code, test, and support software applications and system enhancements.
• Build and maintain solutions using Java Spring Boot and Python.
• Work with concurrency concepts, microservices, and test-driven development practices.
• Participate in planning, implementation design, documentation, and system flow reviews.
• Support ongoing application testing and production stability efforts.
• Maintain clear operational and technical documentation throughout the software lifecycle.
• Apply CI/CD practices to improve delivery quality and deployment consistency.
• Contribute to operations engineering tasks involving Linux, shell scripting, and deployment tooling.
• Work with Terraform, Ansible, Docker, and Kubernetes to support infrastructure and deployment workflows.
• Collaborate across development and operations responsibilities in an approximately 50/50 split.
