Job summary

GovCIO is seeking a Senior Information Systems Security Officer (ISSO) to support our client’s contract needs. The role leads Assessment and Authorization (A&A) activities and manages the full RMF lifecycle from initial categorization through continuous monitoring, including emerging technologies such as AI/ML platforms.

The position is based in Washington, DC, with eligibility for 100% remote work and the chance to mentor junior ISSO staff while ensuring compliance with NIST SP 800-53 Rev 5,

Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree plus 12+ years of information security experience.
• 8–10+ years as ISSO or cybersecurity compliance lead on multiple systems.
• Experience RMF assessments across multi-network environments.
• DoD 8570.01-M / DoD 8140 IAM Level II/III (CISSP/CISM/CASP+).
• Active CompTIA Security+ CE and ability to obtain Public Trust clearance.

Responsibilities

• Lead RMF lifecycle activities: categorization, control selection, implementation, assessment, authorization, and continuous monitoring.
• Develop and maintain RMF artifacts: SSPs, SARs, SAPs, POA&Ms, BOE packages.
• Assess emerging tech systems (AI/ML) and tailor controls accordingly.
• Coordinate vulnerability management and POA&M remediation; ensure scan completeness.
• Produce security reporting, dashboards, and metrics for stakeholders.
• Mentor junior ISSO staff and develop SOPs to improve efficiency.
