Job summary

GovCIO is seeking a Senior Information Systems Security Officer (ISSO) to lead RMF activities and A&A efforts across multiple systems, including emerging AI/ML platforms. You will mentor junior ISSO staff and ensure compliance with NIST SP 800-53 Rev 5, CNSSI 1253, and DoD standards.

Position based in Washington, DC with 100% remote work eligibility. Requires DoD 8570/8140 IAM qualifications and Public Trust clearance; compensation range USD 143,230–175,000 yearly.

Qualifications

• Bachelor's with 12+ years of information system security experience (or commensurate experience).
• 8–10+ years in an ISSO or cybersecurity compliance role with ISSO of record responsibilities.
• Experience RMF assessments across multiple network environments.
• Experience managing multiple concurrent A&A assessments.
• Experience developing RMF artifact packages (SSP, SAR, POA&Ms, RAR, BOE).
• Experience with microservices-based or distributed system architectures and security assessments.
• Proficiency with GRC platforms for A&A documentation and continuous monitoring (JCAM/CSAM, Xacta).
• Active CompTIA Security+ CE certification.
• DoD 8570.01-M / DoD 8140 IAM Level II or III (CISSP, CISM, CASP+).
• Clearance: Public Trust clearance.

Responsibilities

• Support and execute all phases of the RMF lifecycle across multiple concurrent systems and networks.
• Develop, maintain RMF documentation including SSPs, SARs, SAPs, POA&Ms, and related plans.
• Conduct multiple concurrent RMF assessments and maintain compliance records in JCAM.
• Assess and authorize emerging technology systems including AI/ML and microservices architectures.
• Manage evidence collection, control traceability, and BOE packages for assessments.
• Establish system impact levels per FIPS 199; perform PIAs and PTAs.
• Review vulnerability results with Tenable; manage POA&M remediation through closure.
• Provide security reporting, dashboards, and metrics to owners and stakeholders.
• Ensure compliance with FISMA, NIST SP 800-53 Rev 5, CNSSI 1253, and OMB A-130.
• Manage workflow and tracking using JIRA; maintain status across pipelines.
• Mentor junior ISSO staff; develop SOPs and process documentation.
• Collaborate with technical and non-technical teams to communicate security requirements.
