Job summary

McGraw Hill is seeking a Senior Instructional Designer, Dual Literacy (ELA/SLA) for our K-12 literacy programs. This remote role (or based in an office) supports designing digital and print materials across Dual Literacy initiatives.

You will lead design efforts, collaborate with product, UX, and content teams, and ensure high-quality content for millions of educators and students. Experience with Spanish materials is a plus.

Qualifications

• Bachelor's or Master's degree in Instructional Technology, Instructional Design, or related field required.
• Experience working with Spanish-language materials; prior experience as a Spanish, ESL, SLA, or dual-language teacher is a plus.
• 4+ years' experience working in digital content development that includes teaching and learning materials.
• Experience leading multiple projects within tight deliverables and budgets.
• Strong communication skills, with the ability to navigate ambiguity and influence trade-off decisions across scope, quality, time, and resources.
• Experience creating learning experiences with authoring tools, learning management systems, and content management systems, with a demonstrated ability to proactively develop and share best practices in content authoring.
• Anticipate project challenges and bring risks to the attention of leadership with proposed solutions.
• Curiosity about emerging technologies, including AI, and their application to instructional design and content development.

Responsibilities

• Lead concept meetings and reviews Instructional Designers' and Associate Instructional Designers' work during alpha and beta builds.
• Contribute to the product build process, QC English and Spanish digital assets; identify workflow improvements.
• Create, finalize, and maintain build documentation, guidelines, and digital workflow; manage specific product workstreams.
• Work on digital product tasks such as metadata tagging, concept mapping, script go-bys, and digital editing.
• Provide informal training and mentorship to associates and mid-level team members.
• Apply accessibility standards and best practices to ensure compliance and resolve issues.
• Contribute to cross-functional discussions, program planning, and curriculum mapping in Agile environments.
• Lead digital launches with vendors and freelancers; review templates, trackers, and guidelines.
• Create POCs and hi-fidelity prototypes to avoid overbuild and mitigate risk.
• Support user testing by interpreting results and making strategic recommendations.
• Collaborate with cross-functional teams to identify, test, troubleshoot, and resolve issues in authoring tools and platforms.
• Identify, pilot, and scale novel digital solutions during development.
