Qualifications

• Bachelor's or Master's Degree in Engineering or related field.
• 3+ years of experience in chemical/mechanical process design, combustible dust hazard analysis, or related industrial risk consulting.
• 8+ years of experience with combustible dust hazards and DHAs (Senior level).
• U.S. citizenship or valid work visa required.
• Willingness to travel to client sites (typically 10–30%).

Responsibilities

• Build and maintain trusted relationships with client personnel and advise on process safety risk.
• Communicate with AHJs, insurers, and other stakeholders, negotiating acceptance of alternative methods.
• Evaluate chemical inventories, SDS, and materials to classify hazards.
• Review PFDs, P&IDs, control narratives, and drawings for fire and explosion protection requirements.
• Perform, document, and review DHAs per NFPA standards.
• Conduct process hazard evaluations and engineering calculations for hazard mitigation.
• Develop protection options and recommend the Best Total Solution.
• Perform design tasks and calculations for fire and explosion protection systems.
• Analyze processes vs standards and develop code-compliant alternatives.
• Conduct field surveys and assist with inspections and testing; support post-incident evaluations.
• Prepare reports, letters, and client presentations; ensure timely delivery.
• Train and mentor junior engineers and consultants; help establish standards and templates.
