Job summary

Peraton is seeking a Senior GIS Developer to lead the production of federal species range maps for a high-priority data integration program. You will ensure maps meet the FWS SOP and coordinate with government SMEs for sign-offs.

The role involves spatial data integration, cloud data platform workflows, and QA documentation to support ESA-related initiatives. Remote work options are available within the United States.

Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree and 8+ years professional GIS experience.
• U.S. Citizenship required; ability to obtain Public Trust clearance.
• Extensive GIS experience in species range mapping or federal environmental apps.
• Direct experience with FWS Range Mapping SOP or equivalent standards.
• Proficiency in ArcGIS, QGIS, or equivalent GIS platforms.

Responsibilities

• Lead species range map production for marine and anadromous taxa in compliance with SOP.
• Obtain and review the FWS SOP at project kickoff.
• Conduct spatial data aggregation and normalization from cloud outputs.
• Validate spatial intersects against authoritative layers and habitat designations.
• Coordinate iterative review cycles with FWS Ecological Services and NOAA Fisheries SMEs.
• Produce QA documentation and secure government sign-off on range map sets.
