Peraton is seeking a Senior GIS Developer to lead the production of federal species range maps for a high-priority data integration program. You will produce range maps for marine and anadromous taxa in compliance with the FWS Range Mapping SOP, coordinating iterative review cycles with government SMEs.

Work Location: Remote. You will collaborate with FWS and NOAA SMEs, ensuring thorough QA and acceptable sign-offs with rigorous documentation.

Competenze

• U.S. Citizenship required; ability to obtain Public Trust clearance; work within the United States.
• Bachelor's degree with 8+ years, or Master's with 6+ years, or Associate with 10+ years, or high school with 12+ years.
• Extensive GIS experience focused on species range mapping or federal environmental applications.
• Direct experience with FWS Range Mapping SOP.
• Proficiency in ArcGIS or QGIS.
• Proficiency in Python for GIS automation (ArcPy or similar).
• Proficiency in SQL for querying spatial data in cloud platforms.
• Experience with CRS transformations and spatial data normalization.
• Experience with spatial intersects validation and Critical Habitat analysis.
• Strong QA documentation skills for geospatial deliverables.

Mansioni

• Lead species range map production, producing complete range maps for all marine and anadromous taxa in full compliance with the FWS SOP.
• Obtain and review the FWS Range Mapping SOP at or before project kickoff.
• Conduct spatial data aggregation and normalization of range data from cloud data platform outputs, applying CRS transformations.
• Validate spatial intersects against authoritative geographic layers, addressing dynamic habitat boundaries and overlapping Critical Habitat designations.
• Facilitate iterative range map review cycles with FWS SMEs and NOAA Fisheries, incorporating feedback and producing revised versions.
• Produce QA documentation for each range map, ensuring maps meet SOP acceptance criteria before government sign-off.
