Syms Strategic Group (SSG) seeks a Senior Functional Analyst to lead the capture of business requirements for software development teams in a Federal context. This 100% remote, full-time role partners with business users, IT, and leadership to elaborate and document requirements in an ALM tool such as JIRA.

Candidates should have 10 years of professional experience, a Master’s degree in engineering or related field, U.S.

Qualifications

• Must possess strong background in software development and SAFe methodologies.
• Excellent oral and written communication with ability to explain complex topics.
• Excellent attention to detail and problem-solving abilities.
• Experience conducting independent research to resolve complex questions.
• Advanced experience with MS Office, including Excel.
• Strong analytical skills integrating information from multiple sources.
• Expertise with JIRA tools.
• Experience in large, Agile software development or data integration projects.

Responsibilities

• Lead the capture of business requirements for software development teams.
• Collaborate with business users, IT, and leadership to elicit and document requirements in an ALM tool.
• Manage requirements in an ALM tool and perform agile requirement management.
• Analyze user needs to determine functional, cross-functional, and technical requirements.
• Conduct interviews, facilitate sessions, and develop business process models and specs.
• Gather and document requirements from customers, team members, and stakeholders.
• Elaborate user stories, decompose backlog items, and determine acceptance criteria.
• Use JIRA for requirements management, testing, and defect management.
• Track system and business requirements; validate and integrate them.
• Conduct backlog refinement sessions and coordinate with Systems Engineers.
• Manage and coordinate requirements across projects.
• Write and deliver project documents to the client and identify risks.
• Develop and maintain project/product backlog(s) and change control.
• Create Change Requests and ensure traceability across requirements and tests.
