Job summary

ABB's Electrification Services Division in the Mid-Atlantic region is seeking a skilled Field Technician to perform installation, commissioning, maintenance, and repair of low- and medium-voltage electrical distribution equipment.

The role emphasizes remote work with in-person assignments in the NY Metro Area, up to 70% travel, and requires strong troubleshooting, reading electrical drawings, and delivering excellent customer service on site and during commissioning reports.

Qualifications

• Requires 8+ years of field service or engineering experience in electrical power distribution systems.
• Proficient reading of electrical drawings, schematics, wiring diagrams, and protection/control drawings.
• Strong analytical, troubleshooting and problem-solving skills.
• Proficiency with Microsoft Office applications and ability to travel up to 70%.

Responsibilities

• Execute startup, commissioning, maintenance, testing, troubleshooting, and repair activities on electrical power distribution equipment.
• Perform field service on low- and medium-voltage switchgear, circuit breakers, protective relays, ATS, and power management systems.
• Diagnose equipment and system failures and implement corrective actions.
• Support retrofits, upgrades, modernization projects, and emergency service calls.
• Develop electrical drawings, schematics, and bills of material as required.
• Deliver exceptional customer service and maintain strong customer relationships.
