Job summary

Jobot is seeking a Senior Estimator to lead cost estimation for federal projects. This fully remote role offers the opportunity to work on a variety of government construction initiatives while collaborating with project managers, engineers, and architects to ensure accurate, timely estimates.

Based in the Minneapolis-St Paul area but open to remote candidates nationwide, the role features above-market compensation, ESOP shares, and comprehensive health insurance.

Qualifications

• At least 5 years of construction estimating experience, preferably federal projects.
• Proven ability to manage subcontractors.
• Bachelor's degree in Construction Management, Engineering, or related field.
• Strong knowledge of construction methods, materials, regulations and trends.
• Excellent analytical, negotiation, and communication skills.
• Proficiency in estimating software and MS Office suite.
• Ability to work under pressure and meet tight deadlines.
• Detail-oriented with a high level of accuracy.
• Proactive problem-solving and sound decision-making.
• Team player with strong interpersonal skills and collaboration.

Responsibilities

• Preparing and coordinating full project estimates, from conceptual to detailed, for federal construction projects.
• Managing subcontractors, including sourcing, negotiation, coordination and tracking performance.
• Collaborating with project managers, engineers, and architects to understand the scope and requirements.
• Analyzing drawings, specifications, proposals, and other documentation to prepare time, cost, and labor estimates.
• Evaluating and presenting cost-saving opportunities and value engineering options.
• Participating in proposal presentations and client meetings.
• Reviewing material and labor requirements to decide whether it is more cost-effective to produce or purchase components.
• Conducting risk analysis and preparing contingency plans.
• Keeping up-to-date with the latest construction methods, materials, and trends to ensure estimates are current and competitive.
