The Opportunity
An established mission-critical general contractor focused heavily on data center construction is looking to add a Senior Estimator to its team.
This is a high-ownership position with direct exposure to senior leadership and meaningful influence over the company's preconstruction and project pipeline.
The estimating function is deliberately streamlined, giving the successful candidate genuine responsibility for their work rather than being one contributor within a large corporate estimating department.
You will lead estimates from early-stage pricing through final bid submission, working closely with senior leadership, project teams, subcontractors and vendors to develop competitive, accurate and commercially sound proposals.
Responsibilities
- Lead estimates from conceptual pricing through final bid submission.
- Develop complete project estimates covering quantity takeoffs, labor, material, equipment and subcontractor pricing.
- Review drawings, specifications and contract documents to identify scope, risk and pricing requirements.
- Solicit, evaluate and level subcontractor and supplier proposals.
- Identify scope gaps, exclusions, qualifications and commercial exposure.
- Establish pricing assumptions, clarifications, exclusions and contingencies.
- Lead bid reviews and communicate pricing, strategy and risks to senior leadership.
- Work with project and construction teams to validate constructability and execution strategy.
- Identify value-engineering and cost-optimization opportunities.
- Support the transition from preconstruction into project execution.
What We're Looking For
- Proven experience as an Estimator / Senior Estimator with a commercial general contractor.
- Ability to independently manage estimates from initial scope through bid.
- Strong understanding of construction means, methods, sequencing and subcontractor scopes.
- Strong drawing and specification interpretation skills.
- Solid quantity takeoff, pricing, bid leveling and subcontractor management experience.
- Sound commercial judgment around scope, risk, contingencies and assumptions.
- Ability to identify potential cost and execution issues before they become problems.
- Strong communication skills and confidence presenting estimates to senior leadership.
- Demonstrated stability and solid tenure throughout your career.
- Comfortable working independently and taking ownership of complex estimates.
Direct data center / mission-critical experience is highly valuable, but experience across other technically complex environments can translate well, including:
- Advanced manufacturing
- Semiconductor
- High-technology facilities
Strong MEP understanding is particularly valuable.
Why Consider It?
- Remote position with minimal travel.
- Genuine ownership of estimates and preconstruction opportunities.
- Direct senior leadership exposure rather than multiple layers of corporate structure.
- Work on technically demanding mission-critical / data center projects.
- Opportunity to influence pricing, scope, risk and constructability before projects reach the field.
