Job summary

Energy By 5 is seeking a senior energy/facilities engineer to join our remote Northeast team. You will translate complex energy concepts for non‑technical decision makers and lead client meetings on energy usage, costs, and delivery components.

You will conduct cost‑benefit analyses for efficiency upgrades, on‑site generation, and electrification, including NYC Local Law 97 compliance. Strong communication and data‑driven mindset are essential.

Qualifications

• Bachelor’s degree in Mechanical, Electrical, Energy, or related engineering.
• 7+ years of facilities or energy engineering experience.
• PE license or Engineer in Training (EIT) preferred.
• Strong ability to translate complex technical concepts for clients and non‑technical stakeholders.
• Experience evaluating energy efficiency, electrification, decarbonization, or related projects including utility coordination.

Responsibilities

• Translate complex energy concepts, utility structures, and technical findings into clear, actionable terms for non-technical decision makers across client interactions.
• Lead client‑facing meetings to discuss energy usage, billing mechanics, and delivery cost components.
• Conduct cost‑benefit analyses for energy efficiency upgrades, on‑site generation, power storage, and electrification initiatives including compliance pathways.
• Serve as owner's representative on engagements, managing vendor and contractor relationships to protect client interests.
• Monitor and communicate new utility programs, incentives, and regulatory changes; develop strategies to minimize spend and optimize site energy consumption.
• Host Lunch & Learns and knowledge sessions for client facilities teams on energy fundamentals and programs.
• Join prospect and client meetings to provide technical depth and help close opportunities.
• Contribute to improving internal data workflows and client deliverables with intuitive, visual, decision‑ready formats.
