Job summary

Tetra Tech is seeking a Senior Electrical Substation Design Engineer to join our Power team. This role can be performed from anywhere in the United States, offering flexibility and opportunities to work on diverse projects.

The ideal candidate will have a strong background in electrical distribution systems, substations, and HV design, with a PE license preferred. You will lead design efforts, coordinate with clients, and develop proposals while ensuring quality and timely delivery.

Qualifications

• Electrical distribution systems and industrial controls experience.
• HV substations and high/medium voltage design exposure.
• Knowledge of load flow, short circuit, grounding studies.
• Experience preparing layouts, installation details, and conduit layouts.
• Strong communication with clients and proposal development.
• US PE license is preferred.

Responsibilities

• Outline and assign work; review technical accuracy.
• Prepare technical documents per requirements.
• Develop proposals and estimates from RFPs.
• Coordinate schedules to meet cost, quality, time.
• Maintain client contacts for technical information.
• Ensure design compliance and problem solving.
• Lead discussions on design features and specifications.
