Houghton Mifflin Harcourt (HMH), a learning technology company, seeks a Sr. Data Analyst in the NWEA Learning Sciences division to make complex assessment and product data accessible for research, reporting, and decision-making. Remote (U.S.).

You will work with large education datasets, build reproducible data pipelines using SQL, Python, and R, partner with researchers, and translate questions into data solutions while ensuring data quality and clear documentation.

Qualifications

• 2–5 years of relevant experience.
• MS in statistics, education, psychology, economics, or related field.
• Expertise in advanced data manipulations and processing large datasets.
• Proficiency in Python and/or R for data processing, manipulation, automation, and analysis.
• Strong SQL skills and experience querying large, complex datasets.
• Experience designing quality assurance procedures to ensure data accuracy.

Responsibilities

• Use SQL, Python, and/or R to extract, clean, transform, link, and prepare large-scale datasets for research and analysis.
• Develop and maintain reproducible data workflows and pipelines.
• Conduct data pulls and analyses of product usage data to support Product Efficacy and Validation.
• Partner with researchers to translate research questions into datasets and data structures.
• Document data sources, definitions, code, and processes so workflows are transparent and maintainable.
• Troubleshoot data issues and collaborate with researchers and data experts.
