Job summary

NWEA, a division of Houghton Mifflin Harcourt, is seeking a Learning Scientist for Early Literacy. Remote in the United States, you will develop models of how young children learn to read and use rigorous research methods to validate educational products for PreK–5.

You will work with cross-functional teams, communicate findings to non-experts, and contribute to evolving learning sciences across ELA domains. Strong research skills and education expertise are essential.

Qualifications

• PhD or EdD in literacy/reading education or related field required.
• Experience as an early-grades teacher a plus.
• Deep expertise in early literacy and science of reading with broader ELA knowledge.

Responsibilities

• Develop and refine models of early student learning in literacy.
• Design studies to validate products and cognitive models.
• Conduct hands-on data analysis to evaluate learning outcomes.
• Collaborate with cross-functional teams to evolve products for early grades.
