Job summary

Hanwha Qcells USA Corp (Qcells USA) in Houston, TX, seeks a Senior Director of Preconstruction to lead the internal Preconstruction Team and drive megawatt-scale PV and ESS projects from conception through execution.

You will manage a large, diverse team across the Americas, coordinate with EPC, Contracts, Permitting, and Engineering, and report to the VP of Proposals. This remote role requires travel up to 30% and occasional on-site collaboration with the Houston office.

Qualifications

• Minimum of 15 years of experience in engineering or construction.
• Minimum of 5 years of experience in solar development.
• Extensive track record of designing and building large scale solar power plants preferably in the Americas.
• Knowledge of renewables power plant development including engineering, procurement, construction and project management.
• Experience working with project developers and understanding of the RFP process.
• Highlight key risk factors and provide EPC cost estimates.
• Solid experience with current solar EPC tools and processes.
• Track record of significant cost reduction and/or performance improvement.
• Ability to manage and lead large technical organizations, including managing numerous suppliers and contractors.
• Capability to interact with leadership cross-culturally, both within and outside the organization.
• Long-term strategic perspective with near-term action orientation; continuous improvement.
• Exceptional communication and interpersonal skills.
• Willingness to travel domestically and internationally.

Responsibilities

• Lead initial project kick-off meetings with clear objectives, scope and deliverables.
• Define resource requirements for preconstruction activities.
• Establish communication protocols and management plans.
• Create alignment with stakeholders on goals and expectations.
• Manage teams, act as facilitator and mentor, motivate and train.
• Foster cross-functional collaboration among Estimation, Contracts, Permitting, and Engineering.
• Lead regular team meetings to review progress and resolve issues.
• Mentor and coach team members for growth and skills.
• Mediate conflicts within the team and with external stakeholders.
• Champion safety across the team and project sites.
