Job summary

Bankrate, part of Red Ventures, seeks a Director of Risk & Controls for a fully remote role in the United States. You will stand up the enterprise risk and controls function from scratch, partnering with Compliance and Legal, with direct visibility to executive leadership and access to AI tooling.

You will lead governance, due diligence, policy library refresh, and certifications, ensuring regulatory compliance and scalable risk management across Mortgage/Bankrate initiatives.

Qualifications

• 10+ years of progressive risk, compliance, or control management experience.
• Financial services experience with home loans/mortgage preferred.
• Proven ability to project-manage complex cross-functional initiatives.
• Proven track record using AI as a productivity tool.
• Working knowledge of three lines of defense risk frameworks.

Responsibilities

• Lead the monthly Risk & Compliance Committee: agenda, follow-ups, executive accountability.
• Govern bi-weekly Risk & Compliance meetings: agenda-setting and follow-up.
• Coordinate quarterly risk assessments and craft mitigation roadmaps.
• Own governance project management and maintain proper documentation.
• Design and stand up the first-line-of-defense program using AI.
• Manage third-party due diligence requests and documentation.
• Collaborate with CISO/IT Security and Legal for policy library updates.
• Validate adherence to internal policies (~60) across Bankrate and Red Ventures.
• Serve as a conduit to Procurement, Security, and Data Privacy processes.
• Oversee certifications (SOC, EcoVadis, ISO, WCAG) across entities.
• Build AI-enabled employee compliance training to scale content.
