Job summary

Berkadia seeks an experienced Director – Lending Insurance Risk to lead complex insurance decisions across multifamily lending transactions. You will advise underwriting, mortgage banking, and closing teams, shaping coverage structure and risk transfer strategies.

Partner with Legal, Loan Servicing, and external consultants to support timely decisions, while developing guidance and training on CRE insurance risk and agency requirements for the organization.

Qualifications

• 8–15+ years of progressively responsible CRE insurance and risk experience.
• Experience advising senior stakeholders on complex insurance risk and compliance.
• Strong knowledge of agency requirements (Fannie Mae, Freddie Mac, GSE).

Responsibilities

• Serve as Berkadia’s senior internal advisor on complex CRE insurance matters for multifamily lending.
• Assess coverage, structure, deductibles, exclusions, endorsements, and risk-transfer options.
• Advise underwriting and mortgage banking on insurance-related risk decisions for centralized and client transactions.
• Interpret agency insurance requirements and communicate risks to stakeholders.
• Develop internal guidance, training materials, and reference resources on CRE insurance risk.
• Monitor agency changes and market conditions affecting Berkadia’s lending platform.
