Job summary

Berkadia is seeking a Director – Lending Insurance Risk to serve as a senior internal advisor on complex insurance matters affecting multifamily lending. You will guide underwriting, mortgage banking, and closing teams on coverage structures, risk transfer, and agency compliance for Freddie Mac, Fannie Mae, and other loans.

You will collaborate with cross-functional teams to develop internal guidance, monitor market changes, and balance risk with borrower experience.

Qualifications

• Experience in commercial real estate insurance, risk management, or related consulting roles.
• Ability to interpret agency requirements from Fannie Mae, Freddie Mac, GSEs, and lenders.
• Strong advisory skills for senior stakeholders and cross-functional teams.

Responsibilities

• Serve as Berkadia’s senior internal advisor on complex CRE insurance matters.
• Assess coverage structures, deductibles, and risk-transfer considerations.
• Advise underwriting and mortgage banking teams on insurance-related risk decisions.
• Interpret agency insurance requirements for Freddie Mac and Fannie Mae transactions.
• Lead resolution of escalated insurance issues with internal and external partners.
