Job summary

Otsuka America Pharmaceutical Inc. seeks a Senior Director of Data and AI Engineering to define and execute the data and AI strategy across the R&D value chain. You will lead a team of data engineers and AI specialists, delivering robust, compliant data and AI foundations and Gen AI solutions.

You will partner with IT and business functions to enable drug development, clinical trials, and real-world data initiatives while upholding regulatory standards and best practices.

Qualifications

• Expertise in real-world data assets to generate evidence and guide operations.
• Deep expertise across data engineering, Gen AI, AI/ML techniques, and production deployment.
• Strong leadership and cross-functional collaboration skills.
• 12+ years in data engineering/AI with at least 5 years in senior technical leadership.
• Experience in pharma/biotech R&D environments is highly desirable.

Responsibilities

• Define the strategic vision and roadmap for data, AI, and Gen AI in R&D.
• Lead design, development, and deployment of scalable data pipelines for AI applications.
• Oversee AI/Gen AI use cases from ideation to production deployment and lifecycle management.
• Ensure governance, compliance, and responsible AI practices across the portfolio.
• Manage budget, resources, and timelines for the data and AI engineering portfolio.
