First National Bank of Omaha (FNBO) seeks a Sr. Director, Advanced Data Scientist to lead the data science and modeling function within the Partnership Division.

You will define a multi-year modeling roadmap and oversee the development of advanced ML models for credit decisioning and portfolio management. This senior role requires deep quantitative expertise, executive presence, and ability to translate complex results into strategic business insights.

Qualifications

• Master's degree or PhD in Statistics, Data Science, CS, Math, OR Econometrics or related field.
• PhD strongly preferred with ML/stats/quantitative finance experience.
• 7+ years of experience building statistical or ML models in financial services.
• Strong Python/R and SQL skills.
• Experience with gradient boosting, ensemble methods, neural networks, and SHAP for explainability.
• End-to-end model development lifecycle experience.
• Understanding of credit-risk concepts and consumer lending.
• Unrestricted work authorization; sponsorship not required.

Responsibilities

• Define multi-year modeling roadmap for credit-risk acquisition and portfolio management models.
• Lead development of advanced ML models for credit decisioning and risk management.
• Own end-to-end model development from problem definition to deployment.
• Develop research on emerging ML techniques for credit risk.
• Build monitoring frameworks for model performance and degradation.
• Provide technical leadership and establish ML best practices.
