Circle is seeking a Senior Data Scientist to own the prediction side of our fraud loop. You will turn labels into features and models, measure accuracy, and move from vendor scores to in-house systems. You will collaborate with Fraud Strategy, Operations, Risk Engineering and Compliance.

Qualifications

• 5+ years in data science or applied ML on fraud, risk, or financial crime.
• Advanced Python and SQL, and experience with XGBoost or LightGBM.
• Experience with sparse, delayed, or biased labels (cold start, reject inference, chargeback lag).
• Strong statistics: anomaly detection, graph methods, experimentation, and thresholds.
• Experience taking models to production and monitoring them.

Responsibilities

• Build and evaluate fraud models for onboarding, login, and money movement.
• Evaluate third-party risk signals and migrate to in-house models.
• Define label taxonomy and data requirements with Fraud Ops and Risk Eng.
• Design holdout and exploration sampling to measure false negatives.
• Track fraud rate, dispute rate, loss rate, and precision across segments.
• Tune thresholds with Fraud Strategy and respond to new attacks.
• Backtest, monitor drift, retrain models on Circle’s platform.
• Help build AI agent workflows for transaction review and fraud analysis.
