Job summary

Circle is seeking a Senior Data Scientist for Fraud Analytics in the United States. You will own predictive models for fraud across onboarding, login, and money movement, transforming labels into features and building in-house risk signals.

You’ll collaborate with Fraud Strategy, Operations, Risk Engineering, and Compliance to reduce vendor reliance and improve detection. You will design experiments, monitor drift, and retrain models as needed, with a focus on productionization and

Qualifications

• 5+ years of experience in data science or applied ML on fraud, risk, or financial crime.
• Proficiency in Python and SQL; experience with XGBoost, LightGBM, or similar.
• Experience building models with sparse, delayed, or biased labels, including cold start and chargeback lag.
• Strong statistics: anomaly detection, graph or network methods, experimentation, and threshold optimization.
• Experience taking models to production and monitoring them.

Responsibilities

• Build and evaluate fraud models for onboarding, login, account changes, and money movement.
• Evaluate third-party risk signals and design the path from vendor models to Circle models.
• Define the label taxonomy and data requirements with Fraud Operations and Risk Engineering.
• Design holdout and exploration sampling to measure false negatives and blocking rates.
• Track fraud rate, dispute rate, fraud loss rate, and precision across customer segments.
• Tune thresholds with Fraud Strategy and respond to emerging attacks.
• Backtest, monitor drift, and retrain models on Circle’s fraud platform.
• Help build AI agent workflows for transaction review and fraud-ring analysis.
