Job summary

Hopscotch Primary Care is hiring a Senior Data Engineer to own and evolve the backbone of our data platform. This hands‑on role combines data engineering, software architecture, and pragmatic problem solving to ensure data is trustworthy and ready for day‑to‑day operations and AI applications.

You will lead data pipelines, governance, and scalable data solutions, partnering with product, analytics, and care delivery stakeholders in a fast‑paced healthtech environment.

Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree in computer science, engineering, or related field.
• 4+ years of professional experience in data engineering and software architecture shipping production level code, preferably in healthcare services.
• Strong programming skills (Python, Pyspark, or similar) with proven experience in building and scaling reusable, testable, and maintainable data pipelines.
• Experience designing and optimizing data models, warehouses, and/or lakehouses.
• Familiarity with modern data platforms and cloud ecosystems (ex. Palantir Foundry, DBT, Databricks, Snowflake, AWS/GCP/Azure).
• Track record of ensuring data quality, governance, and reliability.
• Ability to balance high‑level architecture with tactical execution.

Responsibilities

• Architect, build, and maintain our data model, data pipelines, and data access layer that support care delivery, operations, and analytics.
• Own the end‑to‑end lifecycle of data pipelines that enable key business operations and third‑party integrations.
• Ensure data quality & governance for stakeholders across clinical and operational teams.
• Monitor and optimise data infrastructure; troubleshoot issues and drive efficiency.
• Lead with technical depth; review code and set engineering best practices.
• Think big picture; design infrastructure with tomorrow's needs in mind for AI capabilities.
• Contribute across the stack from backend data engineering to frontend data visualization.
• Collaborate with cross‑functional teams to translate business needs into scalable data solutions.
