Job summary

Argonne National Laboratory is seeking a Software Engineer at the Professional Technical 4 level to design and build enterprise data solutions across the lab. Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree with 6+ years of related experience or Master's with 4+ years.
• U.S. citizenship required to comply with regulations.
• Experience with Azure data technologies and enterprise data warehouse environments.
• Experience with SQL Server and enterprise data warehouses.
• Experience with Power BI or BI platforms.
• Experience with Informatica or similar ETL/ELT tools.
• Familiarity with Purview or other data governance tools.
• Experience contributing to data architecture, analytics strategy, or roadmaps.
• Experience applying AI or AI-assisted development tools to data workflows.

Responsibilities

• Design and build scalable data pipelines and enterprise data solutions.
• Help architect enterprise data warehouse, analytics, and cloud data platforms.
• Collaborate with stakeholders to translate business needs into data solutions.
• Develop data models for reporting, analytics, automation, and AI.
• Apply AI-assisted approaches to data engineering and automation.
• Adhere to software engineering best practices including testing, source control, and CI/CD.
• Improve data quality, governance, reliability, and performance.
• Define technical standards and long-term direction of the enterprise data platform.
• Provide technical project leadership to other engineers.
• Evaluate emerging technologies and modernization opportunities.
