Job summary

SOLV Energy seeks a Senior Commissioning Engineer to lead testing, commissioning, and initial energization of utility-scale HV substations, BESS, and PV facilities. Travel 20–30% may be required; candidate acts as senior technical authority across PM, engineering teams, and clients.

The role emphasizes engineering oversight, development of energization strategies, and mentoring commissioning personnel to ensure safety, compliance, and project success. Fully remote during interview process.

Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree in Electrical Engineering or equivalent experience.
• Minimum 10 years’ experience in testing, commissioning, and energization of HV substations.
• Minimum 5 years leading commissioning and energization activities on complex projects.
• Experience with high-voltage switching operations and energized systems.
• Experience mentoring engineers and reviewing commissioning deliverables.
• Strong communication with Owners, Utilities and internal stakeholders.
• Professional Engineer (PE) license or eligibility.
• Experience with protective relays and protection coordination studies.

Responsibilities

• Attend owner, utility, and stakeholder meetings as requested by the Commissioning Manager.
• Develop Testing & Commissioning plans aligned with project specs and interconnection requirements.
• Develop, review, and execute Initial Energization Procedures for HV substations and BESS.
• Serve as the engineering authority for complex commissioning issues and technical evaluation.
• Review protection philosophies, relay settings, and commissioning strategies for readiness.
