Job summary

Placements24 is seeking a Senior Underwriter for a fully remote role in the United States. The successful candidate will assess and underwrite complex commercial insurance submissions, setting terms and pricing while ensuring alignment with regulatory guidelines and company strategy.

You will work autonomously from a home office, collaborating digitally with brokers, agents, and internal teams to drive profitable growth and provide mentorship to junior underwriters.

Qualifications

• 5+ years in commercial insurance underwriting
• Strong knowledge of products, risk assessment, and financial analysis
• Ability to work remotely and autonomously
• Effective communication and negotiation with external partners and internal teams
• ACII or FLMI designations are desirable

Responsibilities

• Evaluate and underwrite complex commercial insurance applications, assessing risks and determining terms and pricing.
• Develop and maintain relationships with brokers and agents to foster growth.
• Ensure compliance with underwriting guidelines, regulatory requirements, and company strategies.
• Monitor portfolio performance and market trends, identifying opportunities and risks.
• Provide technical guidance and mentorship to junior underwriters and support staff.
• Contribute to development and refinement of underwriting strategies and product offerings.
