Qualifications

• Experience with AWS and/or Azure Cloud services.
• Proven track record of managing large-scale production systems.
• Strong proficiency in Linux/Unix and Windows operating systems.
• System administration tasks including user management, permissions, and monitoring.
• Scripting in Python, Bash, or PowerShell for automation.
• Automation tools such as Ansible, Puppet, Chef, or SaltStack.
• IaC tools and cloud-native technologies (e.g., CloudFormation).
• Monitoring tools including CloudWatch, Dynatrace, ScienceLogic.
• Troubleshooting for system performance and reliability.
• Networking knowledge: protocols, firewalls, VPNs.
• Network monitoring and diagnostic tools experience.
• Secure production-system practices and audits.
• Database knowledge: AWS RDS SQL Server, Oracle RDBMS/RDS.
• Database performance tuning and backup/recovery.
• CI/CD knowledge; Git, GitHub Actions, CodeBuild/CodeDeploy.
• Strong analytical and communication skills for cross-functional teams.
• Ability to prioritize tasks and meet deadlines in high-pressure environments.
• Attention to detail for system stability and data integrity.
• Willingness to be on-call for production support.
• Documentation skills for configurations and procedures.
• Ability to manage multiple projects with quality results.
• Collaborative work with development, operations, and security teams.

Responsibilities

• Perform high-level, day-to-day operational support of complex application cloud systems.
• Develop solutions to routine technical problems of limited scope.
• Follow standard practices in analyzing data to derive answers.
• Detect, isolate, document, report, and resolve system outages and recovery activities.
• Document problems in logging and discrepancy reporting tools.
• Work directly with customers in day-to-day activities.
• Respond to user calls regarding hardware and software problems; escalate when required.
• Communicate status of key problem statuses to users and senior management.
• Perform maintenance/installation of computing infrastructure.
• Implement continuous improvement through IT systems or procedures.
• Maintain inventory of system assets.
• Ensure compliance with VA standards and security policies.
• Provide documentation, training, and additional duties as assigned.
