Job summary

OnTrac is seeking a Senior Cloud Infrastructure Engineer to drive automation and IaC standardization across our cloud platforms. You’ll partner with development teams to evolve our GCP infrastructure, build robust CI/CD pipelines, and codify infrastructure using Terraform and Ansible.

In this senior role, you’ll mentor peers, shape IaC governance, and help determine when to use containers versus VMs. This fully remote opportunity supports a distributed IT engineering effort.

Qualifications

• 5+ years in Cloud Infrastructure & Systems Engineering, with Terraform and IaC Architecture.
• Proficient in Terraform including modular libraries, state management, and environment separation.
• Hands-on experience managing Google Cloud (GCP) environments, including Shared VPCs, IAM, and Cloud SQL via IaC.
• Experience building automated IaC pipelines in Azure DevOps (plan/apply workflows, drift detection, policy enforcement).
• Proficiency with Ansible for configuration management to complement Terraform provisioning.
• Strong understanding of containerization and orchestration (GKE/Kubernetes vs. VMs) to design scalable cloud architectures.
• Strong Linux administration background with a solid command-line foundation for infrastructure debugging.

Responsibilities

• IaC Architecture & Standardization (Terraform): Modernize the global Terraform ecosystem with version-controlled modules.
• Automated CI/CD for Infrastructure: Build Azure DevOps pipelines with automated testing and PR checks.
• GCP Cloud Architecture: Design resilient GCP foundations defined purely through code.
• Technical Mentorship & Governance: Establish code review practices and guide developers on IaC best practices.
• Compute & Container Strategy: Evaluate when to migrate workloads to containers vs VMs.
• Reliability & Resilience: Define health, observability, and resiliency standards; participate in on-call rotation.
